Default Watch PT Video Tutorials Off-Line?

Is there any way to download those videos on the Digidesign web site so they can be viewed without going on line?

Yes you can.

Assuming you are using IE go to Tools::Internet Options

You should now be on the General TAB. Find the Browser History section and click on settings.

This will open another window, find a button called "View Files" and click it.

This will open a Windows folder. These are where the videos will be, but only one at a time. You have to watch, or at least buffer the video for this file to be created in the temporary internet directory.

Watch a pro Tools video. When it is completly buffered, refresh the Windows folder (F5) and you should see a file named "video.flv". This is the video.

Copy it to a safe location and rename it to something that makes sense. like

"Remixing with Protools_1_Building The Rhythm Bed.flv"

Be sure not to change the file extension (flv).

OK, so you have the file. Now you need a way to play it. Go to

http://www.download.com/FLV-Player/3...-10467081.html http://www.download.com/FLV-Player/3...-10467081.html

and download the player.

After the app is installed, the installer wants you to install all kinds of other demo stuff as well, just say no.

Go back to the flv file you saved and double-click.

You should be watching the video.

Since all of the files are named video.flv you have to watch (buffer) one video, then save it to another folder before watching (buffering) another one.

Great, thanks a lot! Will this work on other types of videos such as those on YouTube?

It should. But the file extension might not be present or correct. Do the same thing but when you see the file (could be named anything, but it will be big), change the name so the extension is ".flv" as it was above.

The same player that you used for the Pro Tools videos should work.

Regards,

Rich
