Default can't record, play or anything

Simple session, 8 tracks of audio and 2 stereo aux with reverb, that's about it. Trying to record a track and get error messages every time I try. Even upon playback. Error message one says "The operating system held off interrupts for too long. If this occurs frequently, try increasing the 'H/W Buffer size' in the Playback Engine panel (-6086)" I've tried this- actually it is set to highest available- 1024. Computer usage is was set to 99%- I've tried 85% too- no improvement. The other parameter was level 2 (default) and then level 4- also no improvement. Then there is another error message as follows "The audio device buffer underflowed. If this occurs frequently, try decreasing the 'H/W Buffer Size' in the Playback Engine panel or remove other devices from the audio firewire bus (-6085). Again, I tried some different setting with no improvement.

The firwire bus of the computer only includes the firewire connection to the 002R and a second to a Glyph hard-drive, which I have always used as the primary recording destination, generally with no problems.

Any ideas of what is going on?

Specs are:
MacG5 single PPC 1.6GHz
PT LE v6.4
002R
Glyph firewire drive, 7200 rpm, partioned into quadrants- each partition has at least 7 GB available space
Session at 24-bit, 44.1KHz, AIFF

Thanks for any input !

Fritz

Some suggestions:

1:Try starting a new session and import the tracks into that and re-insert your plugins. See if the same errors continue. It might be a corrupt session.

2: defrag audio drive (drive genius or techtool pro are good)

3: back up data, format audio drive, drag sessions back on to drive.

4: try new/different firewire cables - 1 or 2 metres in length rather than really long ones, in order to diagnose problem

5: disable tracks that are not being used.

all the best
