Default Take it out on David Sumich

Hello all. I am here to give you a small update, and then I will vanish again to the cellar to continue my work. Many of you are counting down the days of May, and thinking where the heck is our software. I completely sympathize with you that you are anxious for this, but I also realize that it is my actions that you require, not my sympathy, so I will not insult you by trying to pacify you. I have been going full tilt for a very long time now on this release, and this baby is almost cooked, but sadly, it is not yet, and I want to own up to the responsibility of it not being so. That is why I am offering you the opportunity to express your disappointment, rage, anger, whatever, and direct it at me. I can take it, and it will only remind me that our team needs to keep the pedal down all the way across the finish line. We are certainly in the final laps, but in the meantime send me your , , , , , , and . I guess the whole point of me doing this is so that you can see how serious we are to finishing what we have set out to do, and that I am willing to take the heat because I know that talk only goes so far. So now that I have opened this huge can of worms, I will sliter back down into the cellar and get this sucker finished.

David

Take a break man! I can wait a long time for XP support as i won't be upgrading anyway for the forseeable future.

The problem is going to be those guys after this post!!!!

David,

I appreciate you bringing this to a human level. Sounds like you're doing all you can to make it happen.
But, I also have to ask this. Do you have any idea, worst case scenario, of how many weeks we can expect to be waiting?

Thanks, Roy Howell

Doh! So I'm guessing this means no May release? Can we expect to see it by the end of June? Thank for the update even if it’s not the best of news.

Dang it, that's IT! I'm buying two Radio Shack cassette decks and a mixer! Sound on sound is better than waiting for eons!!

Just kidding. I really want Win2K support. I know of five people who installed XP, and two are doing fine. The others set up for music are doing very badly. One even exploded with only game software installed for pete's sake! I'm thinking... Mac of all things.

Dave- no big deal, I just like listening to everyone whine.haha. Hey, if you put it out now, it'd be like playing a guitar that never stays in tune. Yes, some musicians actually do this, (ouch), but I'd rather wait for something solid. 5.1 kicks butt for now. Good job and now go have a sixer of your favorite beer. David,

I appreciate your post and your efforts, but frankly, I would like to know exactly what it is that we are waiting for. XP support is all we have be officially made aware of. Is it possible for you to expand on what it is that is making you feel so guilty and responsible for? As one of the first Athlon users, (well before Digi supported it) my system rocks. But I have posted my concerns about bugs and needed features in the past with no official response. I would hope Digidesign could advise its user base regarding this upgrade path.

I don't expect you to beat yourself up. I certainly do not intent to criticize you personally, nor Digidesign as a company. But, frankly, it's time to communicate with us more about our product and its future.

Sincerely,

Jaleo

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">I agree with that. W2k rocks!
The university where I work has done lots of testing on W2k and XP.
The university software distribution recommends W2k over XP and even has a statement to that effect posted on their web site.
But I don't want to start another spitt'n contest so I will just say that
I prefer W2k but will use XP if that is all the upgrade supports.
happy happy joy joy

And David, thanks for the report.
Sounds like you are hard at it.
