They forgot their purpose the day they found out testing new version against old one becomes just as hard as every Tom, Dick and Harry.

Let me lead with the disclaimer that I have NOT tried this yet, but if you have more free time to kill than I do, please check out this post on VI Control This should navigate to comment 1178, but do read the next 2 pages for follow-up before you try it.
Someone has come up with a way to spoof sessions with Kontakt 5 instances into opening them with Kontakt 7. Other important notes. - If you do this, make sure you copy a backup of both Kontakt files and the plist files, and put them in a safe place to restore from, in case this doesn't work. - This commenter is working in Logic, not Pro Tools, but maybe the same idea works with the AAX file as well as the .component(AU) file? (again, I've been too busy to test it). - Let us know.
