Sidecar on the right question
I have used center mastered consoles for too many years to change now and would like the sidecar to be on the right side...Can the numbered portion of the input strips be moved around to get the strip numbers in the correct order? (Is the buss ID section a separate piece from the numbered strips?) Yes, I know the numbers are not needed on a digital console, but I can't help myself, the numbers being out of order bugs me.

Re: Sidecar on the right question
Yes, you can arrange the console and the sidecars the way you wish.
With a little screwdriver, set the bus ID of each of the units, in growing values from left to the right, then validate the new arrangement in the software (a dialog will appear automaticaly when you change the IDs). Et voilà! Your input strips will from then on be numbered, from the left most module to the right most module. You can have up to 3 sidecars arranged at will around your D-Show main console. -georges |

Re: Sidecar on the right question
I think the original post is asking if the panels themselves can be physically moved, so the silkscreened numbers at the top of the strips match the console layout (for channels 1-24, anyway). I.e., move panel 1-8 from the Sidecar to Main, shuffle panel 9-16 to the left in the Sidecar, then drop panel 17-24 onto the right side of the Sidecar.
I believe the answer is no, because one or more of the panels ends up being the wrong size. In hindsight it would have been wiser to simply have left the numbers off, as they have no meaning beyond 24 faders. Next time... In the meantime, strategically placed white tape should do the trick. Re: Sidecar on the right question
I'm a relatively new Venue user, and from the first time I looked at the desk I decide that I wanted my sidecar on the right. The VCA/Master setion being in the middle just makes sense to me, and to me it means I move around the desk less, and have more flexibility in terms of layout. The only weird thing is getting used to left-handed mousing . . .

Re: Sidecar on the right question
Agreed. We just switched our sidecar from the left to the right. It takes a little getting used to, but it's certainly more logical to have the master section in the middle. Things aren't where you think they are at first, but it works. Plus, we had our LCD in the center of the board before, but we have moved it to the left side now. It's nice to have a completely unobstructed view to the stage now.

Re: Sidecar on the right question
I tried the side car on the right but found I was much more comfortable with it on the left. I use two screens (one for D-show and the other for Pro Tools playback or Smaart), the side car on the left allows me to have both monitors together in the center.
