Default 888/24 and Pro tools 6.x

i recently upgraded to OS X 10.2.8 and PT 6.1 i have 2 888/24's in my TDM system. the install went fine but when i went to set up my hardware, selected peripherals 1 and 2 corresponding to the 2 888's, the second 888 was not responding. (888 #1 is cabled to the mix core, 888 #2 is cabled to the mix farm). as a test, i went back to the hardware setup window, selected as a 3rd peripheral, a third 888/24. this phantom 888 doesnt exist, but once selected in the hardware set up window, it caused my 2nd 888 to respond. anybody have a clue as to why this is? in my IO setup, it now appears as if i have 3 888's in my system.

thanks.

jeff

Each interface card can support two interfaces. If you have three cards and connect one 888/24 to each of the first two cards, it would look like this

<888/24>
<no interface>
<888/24>
<no interface>
<no interface>
<no interface>

But if you connected both 888/24s to the first card through a y-cable, it would be:

<888/24>
<888/24>
<no interface>
<no interface>
<no interface>
<no interface>

Cheers,
Chris
