Newest WaveDriver Logic Audio Error -6006 on start

My problem: everytime, when I start Logic Audio Platinum 5.5.1, I get an Error "Can't initialize Direct I/O. Direct I/O driver returned Error -6006".

I searched the answerbase and found out, that thise means, my Digi001 extension is turned off, but it isn't.

I'm running Windows XP Pro on an AMD Athlon 800 (on a board with VIA chipset - newest VIA4IN1 installed).
Wavedriver is installed but deactivated. Digi001 was still running on this computer/configuration, but I had to re-setup my system and with the newest wavedrivers it doesn't run anymore.

Pro Tools is NOT installed, because I'm not using it. In my previous installation I was using the Wavedriver 1.7.1 with ProTools LE 5.3.1 installed.

Do I have to install ProTools again (because the wavedriver 1.7.1 does only work with installed ProTools) or is there another chance to get this sh... running?
If so, how can I uninstall the newest Wavedriver again?
