Default Mackie 1640 Onyx and PT9

OMG..... I found a positive reason to upgrade to PT9 HD. I have a Mackie 1640 and I just bought a Firewire Card from ebay. Haven't got it yet. I can't wait to have a extra 16 in and out!!!!! Does this really work? Am I dreaming....lol

Has any one done this yet?

Did you get your 1640 to work with 9?

yeah but I got the 1640i and sold my 1640 on ebay and returned the card. There are more firewire controls on the new 1640i. It works great

I don't know about the newer 1640i, but the original onyx would be 18-out, 2-in (18 out of the board to PT, etc.). Definitely not 16 returns.

Yeah your right. That is why I got the new one. The 1640i is 16 in and 16 out of any DAW including Pro Tools 9

Hi Edadema,

Considering picking up the 1640i for remote recording projects... Hope you don't mind a few questions:

How's your experience been so far re stability of pt9 and the mackie?

Have you done some sessions with a lot of simultaneous tracks?

Do you record to your mbp internal drive, or do you use an external? If external is it firewire 800 or USB?

Thanks much for your time.
