Whats up with old or no Venue installers for digi distr. plugins?

I discovered today, when doing some plugin update management that there are no Venue installers for many plugins and then most that have installers for Venue are like vers. 7.3 while there are 8.0 versions available for Pro Tools for Windows. Why is that so and should we actually be discarding these 7.3 Venue installers and manually installing 8.0 win versions instead?

VENUE plug-ins are only updated at major releases, and even then they typically lag behind Pro Tools plug-in versions by at least one version. If you look at the plug-ins that came with 2.8 and 2.8.1 you will notice that most are 7.4 or 7.3 versions. It is very likely that the only difference between a 7.4 plug-in and a 8.0 plug-in is the version number itself. If there are important fixes in a specific release then we will update that plug-in, but otherwise it may be a while before you see a "current" release version.

In general we do not recommend installing the Pro Tools versions of any plug-in (unless there is no VENUE installer available). There could be compatibility issues with some plug-ins that were not specifically tested with VENUE. If there is a VENUE installer you can be assured that it was tested to work with VENUE (either by us or the third party).

Another issue is that a Plug-in that is installed outside of the VENUE software will not show up in the "Previous Installs" list, and therefore can't be quickly reinstalled from a cached version.
