Default pan control out of control!

I've been a long time PT LE user, 001 5.1, & now 002R 6.9, & this problem has plagued me for years! I have an intermittent out-of-control pan control that just bounces around the place, even if the track isn't playing.

It only ever affects the 3rd track from the left (mix page) & across numerous (but not all sessions). No, there is no automation. It has been driving me nuts for years, & I hoped to have escaped this bug since upgrading to OS X & 002 - but its still happening.

(My work-around is to insert 3 new (unused) tracks & place them as the 1st 3 tracks on the left in the mix page)

Surely someone else out there has this problem?

It sounds like the kind of thing that would be a bug in a specific version, it exists at all. I haven't seen it on any of the many versions I've run over the past two years on OS X or Windows.

Over the years I have run 5.0, 5.1, 5.2, 6.0, 6.4, 6.9. This bug has appeared on all versions, but seems worse on my current 6.9/ I just opened a new session (tracked in another studio), & sure enough, there was the errant pan control.
