Can't Install Hybrid update or Velvet

I've got Hybrid and went to install the downloadable update and get an error in install message. I get all the way to installing it and it quits saying "try installing again". This also happens with Velvet.


I have a G4 Quicksilver ( Giga Design 1.8 GHz processor upgrade) w/ 1.5 GB of RAM running OS 10.4.9

Start with Hybrid and see if this helps...

First, you must have the Hybrid v1.x plug-in installed in order to run the 1.5 updater. If Hybrid is in your plug-ins folder, and it won't update to v1.5, try this...

07/13/06 version 1.0.1 new Mac OS X installer posted, which fixes this problem:

The previous Hybrid v1.0.1 installer will not complete if you have an older version of Hybrid already installed. If you encounter installation problems with Hybrid, simply move the following files to the trash and run the Hybrid installer again:
Library/Receipts/v939Hybrid.pkg
Library/Application Support/Digidesign/Plug-Ins/Hybrid.dpm
Hybrid v1.0.1 is a Universal Binary for PPC- and Intel-based Macs

To download Hybrid for Mac OS X or Windows, see the Hybrid Product Section Downloads

You may not have a file named "v939Hybrid.pkg" in your Library/Receipts folder, but check to see if you have either or both of these:
Hybrid Setup.pkg
Hybrid_1.5.0.x5326_Update_OSX.pkg

Delete all of those files, plus the Hybrid files in your Plug-ins folder.

Then run the Hybrid v1.0.1 installer:

Then run the Hybrid v1.5 update.

Thanks for your reply. Tried it, but still got the error when trying to run the update. Also Velvet is still producing the same error. This is very frustrating to have purchased instruments for projects and can't use them.

Have you deleted preferences with the Tech Support Utility?
Are you logged in as an administrator on the Mac?

When you tried the steps above, did the Hybrid 1.0.1 install?
If not, this sounds like you might need to reinstall Pro Tools.

Tech Support Utility? Do you mean Disk Utility?

And yes Hybrid 1.0 did install, but not the upgrade nor Velvet.

Also, do a Get Info on your plug-ins folder (the actual folder, not the alias) and check to see that you have read and write privileges.
