Default Mbox 2: Firewire and MIDI

What's holding me back from getting the MBOX is no MIDI!!! Digidesign should come out with Mbox 2 using either Firewire (less CPU intensive and daisy chain) or USB 2 with MIDI.

That would be the holy grail for me.

You can buy a USB MIDI interface for peanuts.

I can. But I would also need to get a USB Hub for my USB Mouse, USB, MIDI as well. Would that introduce any delay?

And most computers with a soundcard already have a built-in MIDI interface.

Still, I think the Mbox should be replaced. New features should be:
- Firewire, or maybe USB 2.0
- MIDI ports
- proper monitor outs in addition to the headphone and main outs
- plug for external power supply

Basically, 002R in a smaller box, with reduced I/O.

Other people are using hubs with success.I don't need one because I have lots of ports.I have MIDI on my soundcard and a MIDIMAN 1x1 USB interface..No probs!

PCI would be a step backwards. Refining the use of Firewire, and using FW800 as it becomes more common, these would be steps forward.

Back to that old suggestion again...
I've had a similar idea, long ago..and was kinda educated by forum members ;

HERE

Hmmm..I only wanted optical I/O.
I will be trading up to 002R factory in a couple of weeks.
