Default Straight scoop needed: Can you install PT 10 on top of PT 9?

Power Mac; OS 10.6.8 is the computer.

I've seen different views on this. I definitely do not want to reinstall a myriad of plugins or even the OS from scratch.

If I uninstalled PT 9 and installed 10; would I have to reinstall all plugins?

Thanks

If by Power Mac you're talking about a Power PC (PPC) machine then you are out of luck according to this page: http://avid.custkb.com/avid/app/self...p?DocId=422319
MacPro only for PT10. Either way, it's best to uninstall any old installation of PT and then install PT10.

You don't have to load all your plug-ins again when you uninstall 9 to load 10.

If he's got PT9 and OS X 10.6.8 he's got an Intel machine. All of that stuff is Intel-only.

If you try installing 10 over 9 in Windows, it makes you uninstall 9. I would assume the same to be true of OS X as well, but the good news is that every plugin etc will stay put because you're only deleting the Digidesign folder from within /Applications.

Agreed. But what is confusing is the op using the phrase 'power mac'. To me that makes it seem like a Power PC chip, not an Intel machine.

You don't have to uninstall your 3rd party plugins, and uninstalling PT9 only takes about 2 minutes, and you'll be better off doing it.

For the sake of keeping the windows registry clean, I totally agree.
