No audio out

I apologize for the very newbie post. I am trying to do a quick evaluation of Pro Tools and the Blackmagic UltraStudio 4K Mini interface. I have imported an .aaf file from Resolve and and looking to see how well everything works together.

I have figured out how to get video to my reference monitor from the US 4K Mini but sound is the issue. Through the US 4K Mini I can see audio waveforms on the device, and hear audio from the headphone jack. However I cannot hear any audio going to my speakers from the back of the US 4K mini.

I have my out on the track set to "Out 1-2". I have my Mac OS set to the US 4K Mini in and out sound. And I can see the audio waveforms on Pro Tools and the US 4K Mini.

I was just wondering if anyone had any thoughts as to what I am doing wrong.

The audio settings of macOS is not for PT.
Go to PT menus "Setup", Playback engine and set it to your interface.

I should have mentioned I have that set for the US 4K Mini device already.

What Mac OS version are you running ?

#1 So you have the 4K selected as your playback engine
#2 You have the 4 K selected as the Mac Sound In and Out
#3 You have the 4 K selected in the Mac Audio Midi Set Up as the input and output
#4 In PT Setup I/O the 4K is showing and you have Analog 1 &2 selected as the output monitor path
#5 And you have your speakers connected to the analog out 1 &2 on the 4k

You say you see the audio waveform in PT BUT are the track meters showing signal when you are in play ?

Then You might want to trash PT Preferences and relaunch PT

I am running 10.15.7 Catalina.

#1 - #5 were set as you described. I also saw the audio meters showing signal and I could get audio from the from headphone jack in the US 4K Mini. However as I played with it some more I also realized that there was no audio coming out from anything I tried, not just Pro Tools.

I did not trash the preferences but booted over to my other drive which was running Big Sur. I confirmed that everything worked correctly, in multiple programs ( not Pro Tools) and rebooted back into Catalina.

I opened up the Blackmagic Desktop Video Setup app and made sure everything was set correctly there. I did not change any settings.

I tried audio again on everything and it all worked, including audio out on Pro Tools. And I have no idea why.

I play with it for a day and see if it happens again. shrug.

Also the system specs for this are 2019 MacPro OS 10.15.7, 3.2GHz 16 Core, 160GB Mem, 4TB Drive, 8TB Internal Sonnet Raid, Dual Radeon Pro W5700X 16GB
LG UF 5k, 27" Tbolt Display, 55" LG C8

Good it's working I just had another thought given that switching drives seems to gotten things working I have sometimes it happen that the session file destination in the start up window defaults to Mac OS documents and I don't notice it and get not sound. Don't know if that is what happened but just something to keep in mind for future reference
