Default wierd noise after i punch something

I have been having this problem since I got the 002, but most of my bands stuff is just strait ahead loud rock and during the loud parts you can't hear this popping noise. we were recording this new song and it has a bunch of soft parts in it and when i was recording my bass player. he went through the whole song, and we listened to the playback and fix the mistakes. once we found some mistakes we wrote them down and did some punching using like a 5 bar pre-roll, so he could get into the feel of the song, but everytime we listend back to the playback we hear the popping noise in between the original take and the new punch take. the levels are the same, and the sound is the same, but that annoying popping is just driving us insane. how can i fix it?

In between the original takes and your punch takes you have to make sure you put a x-fade to smooth it out! Even in the loud parts where you can't hear it, cross fade those too. You may not hear it now but when you master your project and bring the levels up you will hear it then.

Welcome aboard!!

x-fade is Crossfade. You can find more information about it in chapter 19 of the Reference guide, available from the help menu.
