Default PT 11 to 12 new biz model

Hi, I'm trying to learn this new PT biz model and having a bit of a hard time understanding and finding where to read about it. I'm specifically looking to make sure my license doesn't elapse and I miss upgrading in time. Is there a place in my account that tells me when I need to upgrade by and how much it will be? I'm currently on PT 11. I'm assuming that info is somewhere on my Account pages? I also wanted to know if I were to upgrade to 12 would that run to the end of 2016 or would my year start now?

Hi and welcome to the community

If you upgrade from PT11 to PT12 you will have the PT12 version with updates and if there is a major upgrade a.k.a PT13 you would get that free in the support plan. The support plan you pay for will last you 12 months regradless when you upgrade during the year.

So if you upgrade say 14/July/2015 it will be valid until 14/July/2016

After you do this upgrade you will have a "upgrade option" button in your account that you can activate (disabled as default) and that will upgrade the support plan for you when it is time to do so.

Regarding the info on this you could google it or look at the Avid website (if you have a whole week free) That is a really hard place to find stuff hehe

I can post a few links for you if you want.

When you log into your Avid account, what do you see on the "My Products and Subscriptions" page?

So my best bet is to wait towards the end of the year and upgrade to PT 12 it looks like... @ southsidemusic?

@mesaone - I see the product I have purchased from Avid... I don't see any expiration dates or upgrade timelines...

It doesn't matter when you upgrade as you get 12 months from activation so if there is another reason you wanna wait then that will work too

The new support plans are 12 months from activation on the iLok key and it doesn't matter what date you activate as you get 12 months either way.

If you wait until december 2015 you will get 12 months from then and have a better chance of recieving the next PT version but as we don't know when PT13 will be released its just speculation. I doubt it will come before 2017 but thats IMHO.

All the best and let us know if you need anything else here
