003 Not Installing on XP system, No Drivers
Got a new HP but old system is no longer here. Below is my hardware configuration.
OS Name Microsoft Windows XP Professional Version 5.1.2600 Service Pack 2 Build 2600 OS Manufacturer Microsoft Corporation System Manufacturer Hewlett-Packard System Model HP Compaq dc7700 Small Form Factor System Type X86-based PC Processor x86 Family 15 Model 6 Stepping 5 GenuineIntel ~3391 Mhz Processor x86 Family 15 Model 6 Stepping 5 GenuineIntel ~3391 Mhz BIOS Version/Date Hewlett-Packard 786E1 v03.03, 8/14/2007 SMBIOS Version 2.4 Windows Directory C:\WINDOWS System Directory C:\WINDOWS\system32 Boot Device \Device\HarddiskVolume1 Locale United States Hardware Abstraction Layer Version = "5.1.2600.2180 (xpsp_sp2_rtm.040803-2158)" Time Zone Eastern Standard Time Total Physical Memory 2,049.00 MB Available Physical Memory 1.56 GB Total Virtual Memory 2.00 GB Available Virtual Memory 1.96 GB I pluged in my factory 003 and the PACE USB key into the system. Installed Pro tools LE 7.3 as instructed in the 003/003 Rack Getting Started Guide V7.3 that came with my Factory 003 I bought 4 months ago. When I launch Pro Tools, I get the cannon communicate with Hardware error. I then noticed that drivers were never installed or are not working with the unit. In device manager the 003 is under unknown devices as "楄楧敤楳湧 003" and the device id is listed as "UB1394\_____&_003\00A07E0000AA0000". Windows prompts for drivers everytime I reboot. I have removed and reinstalled Pro Tools many times to resolve with no avil. I updated the PACE drivers to the latest version. I point to the drivers folder on my protools 7.3 cd but it states that "The hardware was not installed because the wizard cannot find the nessassary software" This sucks!! Can anyone assist me with this? Could the fireware port on the 003 have gone bad? I would assume if that happened that Windows would no longer even see it. Thanks in advance! |

Re: 003 Not Installing on XP system, No Drivers
I would try downloading the newest drivers on the Digidesign Website.

Re: 003 Not Installing on XP system, No Drivers
Very important to:
1) Power OFF the PC 2) Connect the 003Factory with the FW cable 3) Switch on the 003Factory and wait till it's up. Do not yet insert the Ilok key... 4/ Then switch on the PC Did you get the "Found new Hardware" msg after powering up the PC ? If Yes, did you IGNORE this msg as pointed in the manual ? If it's still not recognized by the PC you might have a) a defective FW cable (try connecting the unit to another pc to check if it's recognized) b) a defective FW adapter on the PC as decribed above Dutchmountain

Re: 003 Not Installing on XP system, No Drivers
I have tried all the above with no luck. I even installed it on my mac and still get hardware communication error. Could this be the fireware port on the 003 factory?

Re: 003 Not Installing on XP system, No Drivers
Sorry, I forgot to mention this but Yes it could also be the FW port on your 003.
Have you tried both ports on the 003? Have you tried a new FW-cable? Have you checked (Hardware Mng) on the PC the status of the FW adapter (no escl mark...) Dutchmountain

Re: 003 Not Installing on XP system, No Drivers
So.. we all know that "sometimes" Pro Tools can be a little pickey in regards to hardware and OS requirements but I have to hit myself for this one. I am using a HP DC7700 small form factor and it has no built-in fireware ports. I bought a combo card with both 400 and 800 ports on it. Well as soon as I got one of the "approved" fireware cards.. MAGIC.. my 003 works like a champ. Never assume anything. Thanks for all the help!
