Default Someone Please Explain PTLE and MIX

Hi guys. This is from a book I've bought called Mixing with your mind. I want to try this but I don't know how, so can someone PLEASE explain this step by step. (in PTLE channel 16 and 17 should be channel 1 and 2, just to make it easier.)

Compression Audio 3D effect:
1. Lead vocal enters channel 16.
2. Echo send Aux NO 1 from channel 16 feeds your favourite reverb.
3. De-select channel 16 from the mix bus so the fader output does not appear, or feed the left/right stereo mix fader. You

4. Now hear nothing, unless echo send No 1 is turned up, in wich case you'll hear only reverb with no direct signal.
5. Send the output of channel 16 to record bus 17
6. Send bus 17 to the input of your compressor/limiter
7. Return the output of your compressor to channel line input 17
8. Send channel 17 to the mix bus as normal. now you hear the voice. Done

It looks like the result is that you are sending a reverb signal from a non-compressed voice to the mix, but then compressing the voice signal that you are sending to the mix (and not giving it reverb). Without actually trying it myself, I think the procedure below would work.

Try taking the vocal track (track 1) and create a reverb (VSSS) send fader, set the output of this track 1 to bus 3.

Set up track (2) with a reverb plugin, (input VSSS) send the output to stereo mix.

Create a new channel, input bus 3 (this will now be your vocal), instantiate a compressor, send the out put to the stereo mix.

Cruisemates. I finally think I've/we've done it right. I set up one track with vocal. I used to Auxtracks. On Aux 1 (bus 1) I set up a reverb and on Aux 2 (bus 2) I sett the compressor. Then I set the output on the vocaltrack to bus 2 (compressor) and I set a send from the vocaltrack to Bus 1 (the reverb with output is stereo). Everything like you said. I now got one track with compressed voice without reverb and an other track(aux) with only reverb. (simple really)
I've explained all this to the wrighter of the book, Mike. He was gonna come back to me. So then I get to hear if that was right or not. Think it's right.

Many thanks, Peter.

It was very good actually. =) Mike stavrou confirmed your explaination. Congratuallation he said.
When you sing loud with this effect you get mush reverb and when you sing lower the reverb lowers also. you have to try it to understand, but its very different between loud and quiet singing.
