Default Waves 9... so far so good!

Just thought I'd report that now that WAVES v9 has dropped, al seems well in ProTools world.
This would mainly be for those who use Logic 64bit and ProTools.. where everything seems to be going well. Nothing appears to be broken in Tools.

Depending on which bundle you own, there may be a few bonuses.

Regards,
Matt

I'm not sure how I feel about the new license system yet.

I'm tired of having to have multiple "iLok" type systems. For example, I have the majority of my licenses on iLok, my Vienna Pro Ensemble license on my eLincensor, and now it sounds like I'd need a 3rd USB stick for my Waves licenses.

Of course, it sounds like I could install the license to my local computer hard drive, but then I would need to make sure that I always upload to the cloud if I am to go to another computer and then upload to the cloud when I leave that computer.

It may be nice and sweet, but like I said, I'm not sure what I think about it yet. It seems like it would remain so much easier if everyone just used iLok.

What happens if you have hard drive failure, when your license is on you MAC/PC? Is there an insurance plan maybe? I will have to look this up...

Then you have a replacement license from Waves in seconds.
You are limited however for one lose per year.
This is the whole point of this idea.
You can buy a flash drive and place your license there and bring it to the mix stage (just like you would with iLok) and when you go back to the studio, move it back to your hard drive.

Good bye iLok.

I was a big antagonist to Waves all latest years.
Because the WUP, Higher prices and their licensing system (no resell, needed approval e.t.c).
Looks like these kids getting older now.

What size USB flash drive?
Couldn't find this on the Waves site. Just Fat-32 for format.

Also for those there, use it like ilok when moving around?
Will the USB drive become invisible to avoid possible erasure?

Lastly what happens to the Ilok with v-8?

Mercury, SSL, Gold user.

Has anyone tried moving sessions between different Waves versions? In the past I've seen issues with automation being lost when going between different versions.

It authorizes drive it self. Same as hard disk. In other words it authorizes a serial number of the hardware (firmware) which cannot be erased).

Nothing happens with these licenses, They are sitting in your iLok account.
Just upgraded to v9 my WNS and W43. All is fine so far.

...but I WANT mine on my iLok!!! I don't want to have to screw around with another licensing form. Can these not be placed on an iLok?!? I haven't dug deep, yet, just saw it was posted here and blew through the whole install process.

I have to take my iLok with me when I leave home (main DAW) and take the MBP to run PT10. I don't have enough USB ports on the MBP as it is.

Time to get a USB hub. I think it's silly too but I guess waves is getting tired of getting hacked. Not sure how this wil help tho.
