Default PT 2021 records selections only

Hi, since the update to version 2021.7 Pro Tools records selections only.
When I just want to record from a certain position (without a selection), it shows the infamous error message "unable to create record files for one or more tracks. Check your disk allocation and drive permissions."
All my disk allocations in Worksapce are ok and all permissions are there.
I checked all the preferences and they're all ok as well. I can record selections, so this shouldn't be the issue.

Maybe I've overseen something? It started suddenly, maybe I used accidentally a shortcut? But I just can't find out why this is now happening.
Would appreciate any helpful advise to solve this. Cheers!
