Default 12.5.1 Crash/Bug fest

Doing some rough mixes for a client tonight. Thought I'd use it as an opportunity to test 12.5.1. First opening of Pro Tools resulted in a crash. It happens but it isn't a good omen. So after continuing working for several hours, I get crashes opening sessions that have run fine dozens of times before, loss of communication with my control surface on multiple sessions requiring a reset, crashes during editing, and weird audio glitches that weren't showing up before. I suppose I should contact support and go through the process, but it's late and all I want to do is roll back so I can finish my work and go to bed.

AVID, I don't have time or patience to be your beta tester. Either polish this turd or flush it.

My system specs below. I went for it and worked on 2 sessions. a mastering session and a mix session, both worked fine without a hitch.

I used PT prefs to trash all prefs and databases and everything, then installed.

All was ok so far in my limited testing.

Good advice. I think it's safe to say that PT is a very picky DAW when it comes to system maintenance and installation procedures.

We ran 12.5.1 all of yesterday without a hitch (besides EuCon losing communication with the controllers -- an ongoing issue), though it was primarily audio and not a lot of VIs.

Mac Pro 10.9.5 system here see specs below.
Also used PT Pref app to delete all preferences and logs and files from previous version and then installed 12.5.1.

Tested on a heavy mixing session with lots of mute automation which previously was exhibiting loud noise bursts and plugins chokes. It is working flawlessly now. No loud bursts anymore. So thats good!

New thing is that Pro Tools 12.5.1 crashed every time I first time insert a new instance of Slate VTM plugin in old or new sessions. Upon restart inserting of the same plugin didn't crash the PT.
Thats weird because I've never had any troubles with this plugin. Latest version of VTM 1.1.10.4 is installed.

Just updated from 12.4 to 12.5.1 here on a 4-system HDX and S6 setup being used for post-production and for a day of mixing with the S6 it's been running great, knock-on-wood.

Using OSX Yosemite, of course.

I was getting huge CPU spikes with 12.5.1 which would max all my cores and cause Pro Tools to stop.

Tried upping the buffer size with no joy.

Back on 12.4 with out any CPU issues.

12.5.1 not quite ready for prime time imo.

I wonder how many people who are having issues with 12.5.1 actually followed the installation instructions and uninstalled the previous version etc.

How many trashed prefs and the like and made sure all their plug-ins are up to date?

I've had one or two odd things happen but generally a pretty good first day with 12.5.1. Just jinxed myself of course.

Default 12.5.1 Crash/Bug fest

No issues here. HDX 1 MacPro running 10.8.5 dual UAD 2 (PCie & firewire)
Since PT11 my system is rock solid. I had a lot of 9172 and 73 on 11, never on 12. So weird because a lot of users experience this errors on 12 and not on 11.
I can't reset presences because I use a d command and my setup for the console is stored with the preference file. So every time I upgrade my version of protools I really cross my finger to avoid re doing my setup If my preference file gets corrupted. But immediately after Protools starts to behave good, I backup my preferences to have a good starting point if something happens.

+1.

Also, according to the installation guide you should uninstall the previous version and follow the Windows/Mac Optimisation guides. AND.... it's a good time to check all your plug-ins are up to date.
