Default New High End (Digital) Piano for Studios and Touring

Just a heads up as I saw this myself today and thought it could be interesting for studios,
engineers and touring musicians on a high professional level.

It´s a new innovative, revolutionary kind of digital piano, originally created for the high level
classical music scene and it´s indeed the first digital concert piano which is seriously accepted
by professional classical piano players.

It´s an austrian manufacturer which developers had been working and developing at Bösendorfer
Vienna for years and had noticed that there still was no instrument on the market which would
meet the requirements of professional classical musicians although there obviously was a demand
for something like that.

Not only the sound quality and the feel while playing seems to be unique but it also has got a pretty
cool, modern design.

Whoever may be interested or knows people who could be, check this out!

At the Musikmesse Frankfurt Germany 2011 (first introduced but further development since then)

This shows how easy it is to handle for touring musicians although it is a real concert piano

They got another cool model (the MPiano) which will be released in April 2015 and is still presented only on the
german part of the website unfortunately but you can take a peek anyway by clicking on the MPiano tab.

These are for sure not cheap (could´t find any price anywhere) but a serious solution for the high end market.
Although important parts of the piano are build like a mechanical one it´s got no strings but (particularly created)
sensors which means there is no maintenance needed as well as no tuning.

Have fun, all the best everybody.

Cheers.

Porsche design studios for one. Still it's one VERY expensive controller and that's all it really is. You can have, as an option, a 60 gig VSL sound library installed on a built-in computer. And that library appears to only have a Bosendorfer Imperial sample set; can't tell if the piano controller has all the keys for that.

Very surprised they didn't do it in a grand piano style case instead of an upright.

Been doing more research on this and, yeah, for sure Porsche Design may be one point,
but for sure not the only one as they have build the mechanical parts by the same high
standards like Bösendorfer, Steinway etc. use to do (which cost, you know...) as to the
materials and workmanship.
Further there are a few inventions in there as those particular sensors which are made of
an exclusive, high end material.

And this is finally what seems to make this piano outstanding obviously because it reacts
and feels extremely close to a classical, mechanical piano for the player.
They seem to have done a crucial leap as to the feel and behavior of a digital device.
Unlike popular musicians, classical musicians have not been able to seriously play their
Rachmaninov&Co on digital devices and they simply denied to do it most of the time.

With this piano for the first time even classical musicians seem to feel comfortable enough
to use it continuously. Mozarteum Salzburg which is one famous musical institution for
classical music in Austria seem to use the Alpha Piano as well which means a lot actually.

So it´s not the sound only but even more the mechanical part of this thing which seems to
be outstanding and a big part of the high price. See the attached images.
Btw it starts at €18 000.- without the electronically adjustable height and other electronical
gadgets.
Still very expensive for popular music applications, on the other hand the lower price range
for professional stuff for classical music indeed.
As mentioned in my first post the developers of the Alpha had been working for Bösendorfer
Vienna for years and had developed CEUS for them among other stuff.
http://www.boesendorfer.com/en

So this for sure is no fake or kinda rip-off as they are working for a very serious part of the
music market, which is the classical music scene which are accustomed to only the highest
standards as to quality and performance.

As to the upright style case they wanted to make it as portable as possible in a way.

Yes, the controller has all 97 keys for the Imperial sample set, not only 88.

Just as an update and to complete the info.

Cheers everybody.
