Opening a new a song, PT gets stuck

I am new on Pro Tools, so I don't know if this issue occurred also in previous versions. I have vers. 21.6.0.101 on Mac.
Often, when I open a new a song, PT gets stuck. So all I can do is quit PT and reopen it.
Any workaround?

Should not be happening . What Mac OS version are you running (is it compatible with PT 2021 ??

If OS is OK First thing try trashing your PT preferences https://www.sweetwater.com/sweetcare/articles/how-do-i-trash-my-pro-tools-preferences/

Then
What if any 3 rd party plugins do you have installed , and have you made sure that they are compatible with PT 2021.6 and or are updated to run on PT? version .
You can start by moving any third party plugins to the a separate folder and see if still happening if than then try adding them back to the PT preference folder on at a time to find on that may be causing an issue

OR try uninstalling PT and reinstalling

I tried trashing preferences but the issue remains.

My guess is an old trial plugin or an out of date plugin causing that.

I know this is a time eating way but try putting ALL 3rd party plugins in the unused folder and keep adding 5-10 at a time until you done them all and at the same time look for old demos and old plugins that might need updating.

PT will be doing weird things even if the offending plugin isn’t in a session but since PT ”loads” all plugins and VI it cause issues by just sitting idle in the plugin folders.

Gets stuck where? Sometimes PT takes what seems like forever restoring tracks even in a small session.

It's weird but at the moment I don't have this issue anymore...

Be very careful with plugins. It only takes one bad plugin LOADED into memory to cause trouble with PT. The plugin does not need to be instantiated in a session, simply residing in memory is enough to cause chaos.

Every time when you update OS or PT you would also need to check if some of your plugins are updated on the vendor site. Of course it takes time, but that is the only way to keep your system stable. Not so critical if you only mix by yourself, but in front of paying clients it is embarassing if your system does not work properly. And if you do a live gig (recording artist or god forbit FOH mixing in front of audience) you cannot afford to have a bad plugin in your system.
