Default OSX 10.11.4 is out

Anybody tried it yet to see if it fixes any of the PT 12 issues?

Wow! I was Hoping! Maybe it will be fixed with 12.5. At this point from what I've read 10.12.0 may be coming this summer. Apple seem to be moving pretty fast getting threw these OS's. At the rate Avid is moving theres no way they can keep up. I may just wait and see whats happeing then. For now I'll just stick with 10.10.5. Was just curious.

I havn't checked the exact facts but I feel Avid is really quick nowadays with testing and certifying Pro Tools for newer OSes. OS X 10.11.3 was released Jan 19, 2016. Pro Tools 12.4 got certified on March 10, 2016. Or, as of writing this, that's the date this document was last time stamped (which means it could've been certified even earlier): Pro Tools 12 System Requirements

Do you really need to go any faster with updates on your studio machine? You know you still can, just that you're on your own regarding official support. Well, fortunately a few thousand audio nerds of this community are aiming to reach out where Avid won't or can't.

Also, Apple probably won't release their next OS X this summer. They will annouce it, and maybe release it in October. Where's your gratitude to all this great new technology being available to you?

I don't know if this was directed to me but, Certified and working correctly are two different things. Also my gratitude is tied to how well the great new technology works. I agree If it isn't broke, don't fix it. I'm very happy with 10.10.5. As I said in my other post, I was just curious to see if Apple broke it, maybe they fixed it. I must say from my experience other companies seem to do a better job staying pretty close.

The freezy GUI when you wobble your mouse, is a minor annoyance.
Audio still plays, video still plays. The world still rotates (even if it's flat).
Really only affects people who have got a brand spanking new mac that came with OSX 10.11.x

The rest of us are sitting at OSX 10.10.5 (or earlier)

Oh, I didn't mean to direct it at anyone particular.

I agree. I also wish the tool I use most of my days, Pro Tools, would refresh at 60Hz, never stutter or screen tear and be a real eye gem. With retina graphics the other year Avid surprised and came a long way. I hope for Avid also getting it into shape framerate-wise. (I wonder if Avid might be using some dated in house code for drawing their graphics? Pro Tools seems to refresh slower than most other apps I use.)

Well, maybe Avid fools me every time with them taking their time to test and certify Pro Tools. I've been thinking Pro Tools and its ecosystem is complex enough for it to be true. But I wouldn't know for sure. I've asked them to comment on an update schedule before and had nothing for an answer.

Oh .. Art is not about being correct. Isn't Pro Tools a work of art?

Oh look, Avid updated this other compatibility chart which was lagging behind as of writing my previous post. Maybe they noticed our discussion.

I can't. I'm still on 10.10.
Make a duplicate of your system drive and try it out for yourself. That's probably the best way to find out. Roll back if it doesn't. Tell us how things went. I'm curious, just not that eager about leaving Yosemite. Good luck!
