Please note that Pro Tools LE 6.7 software is not compatible with Digi 001® systems.

Im not usually a digi basher. In fact I usually understand thier business decisions and get on with it.But this is Lame.
So those of you who would say progress cost money save it, cause your talking to the hand, the head ain't listening.
I use outboard pres and ad/da with the 001, so all an $800 upgrade to an 002R would offer me is firewire, which I don't need. ProTools 6.4 works fine with the 001, so why not PT6.7? I can't help but think that this is solely economically, not code based.

Someone here has allready posted that software upgrades cost money to create. I agree, and I've purchased them, for $75. Not $875 for 002R tradeup and PT6.7 I would rather spend the money on a command 8, or something that has some cool bells and whistles.

Long live the 001, it still works fine.

Just remember that the 001 wasn't supposed to work with 6.4 either. I'd recommend paying the $75 for the 6.7 upgrade and trying it with the 001. If for some magical reason it works, no harm done. If it doesn't, then you'll have only spent $75 and know that eventually you'll definitely have to upgrade your Digi hardware to run the latest version of LE.

The giga 1k was a little over $300. Went from 11 to 22 tracks with the Dave C test. Just follow the Pt6 & OSX setup guidelines at the top of this forum to a T, and you should be good with 6.4. It also helped to put my boot "OS" drive on the same buss as the DVD combo drive, leaving the main buss for audio only.

Some people have had trouble with OSX 10.3.5

I would go for the giga 1.4 cpu.

I bought my 001 3 or 4 years ago only because at the time digi didn't have anything for my TiBook at the time. I paid $700 for it and made my money back on it. The 800 for an trade up sounds like a good deal.

If you make music as a hobby the the trade up is not worth it. But if you are making money then it's a worth the it.

Thanks a lot lamp.

But...just exactly how do you boot your "OS" drive on the same buss as the DVD combo drive, leaving the main buss for audio only? I have an internal Glyph drive for audio, if that aids in this at all.

Although I have an Mbox, I understand how you feel. Upgrading just for software is a bit much IMO. But when I heard they were including Beat Detective with the 6.7 upgrade, I knew they weren't gonna give LE users BD for free, thats one of there most popular features.

Not for me. Im on a 001. The buck stops here at 6.4 for me. Were you familiar with PT in OS9? Upgrading just for the software could be worthwhile...im hoping.

Im a windows guy. This upgrade IMO is a very big one for me, everything I wanted to be in the next upgrade is in it. Manual color coding, BD, new MIDI functions.
