I really hope it does, otherwise I wonder if there's any way of of suing Avid. It happened twice to me yesterday, under headphones...ear damaging!

It's basically best to avoid jumping to locations whilst playback. That's after the blast...still hurts the day after!!

I have had it happen five or six times since upgrading to 12.4. I did not have this happen before. I have he same gear set up the same way as before the update. I don't know if 12.4 is the cause or if I just have been lucky previously.

12.4 is not the cause because this has been bugging for some time already. Just that now more people are affected, which makes me point finger at drivers instead of PT software

So I have never had one of these in any PT rig I have owned. I just started using HDX in Sonnet Chassis with nMP and 12.4HD. I already have ear issues and this thread is scaring me. A full scale hit in the HP would be devastating for me. So how do I protect myself?

Would putting a hardware Compressor/limiter like DBX266xs on the headphone feed from the AVID IO to the HP amp do it? Could set for hard limit and also have the sidechain keyed off the input as well. If noise blast comes in - limiter gets the intial spike (best it can) and then sidechain triggers to duck the HP feed.

I haven't had any such issues, and have been pushing my Mountain Lion dual boot system running 12.4 pretty hard...

Tracing the magic bullet is almost impossible.

I asked Jeffro about this and it doesn't seem like anyone with HDX has had this problem. It seems to be an HD Native issue.

Is there anyone with an HDX system reading this thread that has had the noise blasts?
