Default FYI - Apple 30 Cinema Working Great with Mac Studio

I thought I would post this for information purposes.

I bought a Mac Studio a few months back on tax free day. Prior to this I was using an M1 Mini. The Mini was a great little machine that performed well, but the Studio has been a giant leap forward.

Anyway, I was using an LG Widescreen monitor and it was fine. I really wanted one of Apple's new displays but couldn't justify the cost.

I ended up picking up a 30" Cinema Display on FB Marketplace for $125. I bought this box on Amazon:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

And the Cinema Display was plug and play. It's even correctly identified in the Mac Studio and I didn't have to do any resolution hacks or Terminal things to make this happen, as I had read about.

There are similar boxes for less than $40, but this is the one that I was told would work, so that's probably true.

I absolutely love the studio vs my LG.

Anyway, hope this helps someone at some point!

Thanks for that update. I like when the latest/greatest continues to work with older gear.

Out of curiosity: you're not bothered by the resolution limitation of the Cinema Display?

Great news. I have two working on my 5,1 MP, thinking aout the upgrade.

Weirdly though, there are 2 types of 30"ADC:
Pre 2007 without HDCP, and post 2007 with HDCP.
I bought that adapter to test and it only works with my post 2007 monitor.
Luckily I have a thunderbolt hub with a mini display port for the pre 2007.

I get a picture on both displays with the adapter you linked to, but massive intereference and green/red lines on the pre 2007.

Just a heads up, plenty of discussion about this eldewhere, but I managed to narrow it down a bit having this adapter and 2 different displays. Others have found the same.
Apple upgraded quietly on this one, so not many people know there is a difference, hence the confusion.
