Now with the announcement of the Multi Core technology that'll allow the use of Hyperthreading and multiple CPU support I wonder what will be the possibilities for a PTLE system ...let's hope Allen chimes in with a new serie of tests for a dual CPU Allenstein model . I think this is an additional proof that the LE version will be distinguished from the M-powered version and that it will be geared toward mid level market to cover that ground dominated by Nuendo and Logic until now...the tide is turning...

Why would we want native VST support? Audio Suite and RTAS are superior.

The announcement mentions Protools 6.9 (but not Protools LE 6.9), even when it talks about supporting Multi Core Hyper Threading for RTAS Plug-ins. Am I correct that TDM plug-ins run entirely on the DSP cards? Adding Hyper Threading support for TDM systems doesn't seem to be a big benefit. Now PTLE which runs on the computer's processor may benefit from Hyper Threading support. RTAS plug-ins on PTLE will see huge benefits.

I still did not see anything about increased track count in 6.9 but I sure hope it is there.

True that RTAS plug-ins are superior to VST but there are so many VST plug-in's that you can't ignore them. It's like Sun makes great computers and OS's (I chose not to use Apple Macintosh in this example to avoid offending Apple users), but there are so much software written for Windows that you just can't ignore it.

as will RTAS plugins on HD system

ALthough I have never personally witnessed the benefits to Hyperthreading. My PC was not slower with it disabled, so we'll have to wait and see.

Gary,

not arguing the quality of rtas. It just would be much nicer to have native vst for softsynths,,,been using fx wrapper for over a year... try loading banks or individual presets or midi control, etc.(the wrapper is just that...try chewing a piece of gum with the wrapper on it...yuk. Give spectrasonics a call sometime and see what they think. Keep rtas for what it does best and incorporate vst for what it does best.

Gonna bounce us back to 24 tracks... na...... I would not mind more though, and more busses.... With multi-threading that would open a whole new can of whoopass....

So it has it been confirmed that there will be HT for LE? I agree mainly with having more busses, plugin delay compensation, better general stability, and just implementing native vst's would be cool. I wonder if LE users do get Hyperthreading added what type of performance difference will there there really be, because if we haven't hit the true boundaries for our cpu's, then the program should have the capability of doing that you know.

Oh yea that (I) button for input in the mix window that TDM users have would be great too. there is wierd issue to with rewire midi output options being displayed wrong on midi tracks when you want to assign them to Reason 3 some are hidden under the screen that you can't scroll to and then it skips and on the next column it continues on with the rest of the outputss, thats irritating to me a lot not being able to choose a good chunk of outputs to reason.

All of what I'm putting and hoping for really isn't to much to ask for in my opinion and that would cut the wants and needs that most LE feel should be the norm to around at least 75% imho. Well can't wait for 6.9 and I hope it turns out to make a good difference for us. N M out.
