Arrow Does 7.4 Solve the "Disappearing MIDI" Problem?

Hello,

I've been running 7.3.1 for a long time, but recently ran into a situation where the MIDI notes are not visible on certain MIDI tracks. After a little searching on the DUC, I discovered that this "disappearing MIDI" problem was quite common in 7.3.

This led me to purchase PT8, only to discover that it's incompatible with my AMD-based PC. I can't afford a new computer right now.

So, my questions are:

1) Was this problem solved in PT 7.4?

2) If so, is it still possible for me to upgrade from 7.3.1 to 7.4? I can't find the download anywhere on the AVID site.

Thanks.

Thanks filosofem.

Does anyone know how a 7.3 owner "upgrades" to 7.4 now?

Was it a paid upgrade or free to 7.3 owners?

Thinking way back, wasn't it a matter of assigning only one or two colors to the MIDI tracks? Actually, I just found a jpg of the three colors that worked.

From the pallet in the jpg, they were all second row, columns 1, 3 and 5.

Hope this helps.
Greg

Greg,

Thanks! It will be great if that's all I need to do!

My rig is down right now because I had been reconfiguring another computer to work with 8.0 (unsuccessfully). So I can't test this at the moment.

In the meantime, I'd really appreciate any info on getting to 7.4 just in case the new pallet assignments don't work for me.

Thanks again...

That is exactly what I was thinking/trying to remember.

I'm not sure if it is still available publicly, so contacting avid support is probably the best advice.

Wink Re: Does 7.4 Solve the "Disappearing MIDI" Problem?

Hi EarBud, I Use PT Since 5.1. and I've use used 6.1. and .6.4. When PT 7 came out, I think PT was the best, I start my producer carrer with Cubase VST 3.6 in 1998; in that days Cubase make me learn a lot about making MIDI music, and VST instruments, Then Cubase SX appear in the show, making the things easier , but PT was since then was my Daw, I compose my music in Cubase, and I recorded in PT. all this years I´ve learned a lot on PT and other DAW, I Stop composing and making music on Cubese, because on 7.4 and today PT 8.0.4 make my world huge, because I Don't Use my Cubase 4, any more, I have it, but not use it, PT make me composing, arranging, Editing, Sampling and Master my Music like Never Before....

I recomend, to make the upgrade to 8, and never gonna go back, trust me; and one more thing, PT 8.0.4 runs like never before, and the MIDI Stuff are amazing, right now I use Windows 7 Home Premium, and no problems at all, on a AMD Phenom II X4 965 2 Gb of Ram, 256 Video Card, Two Hard Drives, With an MBOX 2, and DIGI002R, So, think about PT 8. It's a very good choice...and your problems will disappear.
