Heat license for Pro Tools HD 8.1 required iLok2 and isn't recognized

Hello,



I recently obtained an Avid Heat iLok license for my HD system. The ILok manager would not allow moving the license to my 1st iLok that has the PT 8 HD license, so I added the Heat license to an iLok2.


With both iLoks in the Mac Pro, PT starts and shows the authorize popup for Heat. It doesn't recognize the license on the iLok 2.



Why is iLok 2 required for the Heat license? And why isn't recognized?



Any help would be appreciated. I may be missing something obvious. Thanks.

Just thinking aloud here. Others might have much better guesses.

What exact version of Pro Tools 8 HD? Heat was first introduced in 8.1 HD. I'm have no idea exactly what happens if you drop HEAT plugins into Pro Tools 8 HD.

iLok2 started being required with Pro Tools 11, I'm guessing that you have a Heat license that came from after that when Avid had switched licensing to require an iLok2. It's been so long I can't recall seeing a Heat license that did not require iLok2.

HEAT is activated when the HEAT iLok license is present on the same iLok as the Pro Tools HD license bundle. (See the HEAT Product Page for more info and a free trial.)

This also didn't work. I'm trying to contact Avid. This is troubling as I've read reports of newer licenses not working with older versions of Pro Tools.

have you heard anything from Avid about this? I'm considering to buy a new HEAT license to use with an old HD TDM system as well.

No, I haven't been able to get it work. Avid response was that it should work. I'm hoping for a workaround of some kind to be able to use Heat in with PT 8 HD.

I haven't dared to purchase HEAT for my HD 8.1 system yet. Did you install 8.1 from a DVD? I have downloaded the HD 8.1.1 update from here http://akmedia.digidesign.com/suppor...ater_70924.zip but as far as I can tell there's no HEAT installer included

First, download and install the latest version of iLok License Manager (ILM):
https://www.ilok.com/#!license-manager



With both licenses on iLok 2, right-click on it in the LHS of ILM and choose:
"Synchronize"
Wait for the slow process to complete

Restart computer

Launch Pro Tools


Caution: don’t move your HD8 Plugin licenses to your iLok 2 – leave them on iLok 1, and don’t synchronize your iLok 1 - until this issue is sorted:
