Default Add This Feature please !!!!!

Dear Digidesign,

This feature should be so easy to implement.

Pro Tools Audio tracks let you monitor the track or the input when you're in record ready.

I want you to add the feature that lets you keep it in input even if it's not in record ready.

We could call it input only mode and it would make the record button yellow instead of red.

Analog tape machines always had this feature and it would make productivity quicker for inputs (MPC, Reason, XV3080, Synths) that will eventually be recorded.

The workarounds now are to:

1. Use an Aux input
2. Leave the track in record

The problem with #1 is if you want to print it later, you have to make an audio track, match all the plugins & automation and sends first. Not good with 32 tracks of inputs.

The problem with #2 is if you want to record anything else, (Vocals, Ac Gut) now your inputs all get recorded.
They may not be finished yet. I guess you could record them now. Take them out of record, and rerecord them later. Also a PITA.

This feature is pretty basic and can really help our Work Flow.

There is another workaround which would also be easy to implement.

Make a menu choice "Turn Aux Input Into Audio Track"

This would give you the ability to solve this problem another way.

Thanks for your consideration.

(Don't forget NEW TRACK TEMPLATES)

It could be even easier. Why not have a "convert aux input to analog track command". I would think that would be even easier to do.

I'm wondering if the reason they don't employ our ideas is because of law suits.

So I, Produceher, (being of sound mind and body) give this idea to you, Digidesign, and hereby forego any and all profits that could or will be collected as a result.

If you would like me to call my lawyer let me know.

I encourage [Benjamin] to do the same so that we can have these 2 ideas. Thanks guys.

Here's another idea - a "render" function that would print a track (with its plugins) without having to set up a bus to another track. Ideally, this would create a new track, print the audio, and then deactivate the original track in case you wanted to go back and make adjustments.

I'd love to be able to speed up this process, as I often print my Ampfarm, Sansamp and Virus tracks to free up DSP.
