Default Ribbon mics -> splitting -> 48V

If I were to use a regular splitter cable from a BLUE Woodpecker figure-8 ribbon mic as part of M/S recording - how does that work? Phantom power on both preamps?

I would use 1 preamp and use the splitter after the preamp, much easier than trying to get gain matched between two pres

but no, phantom from 1 pre only

Or record the signal to a mono track and split it out in mixdown(sounds exactly the same). When I do this, I usually just monitor the cardioid during tracking. You can also run the mono audio track and AUX send it to a mono AUX track with a polarity reverse inserted(the 1 band EQ works fine for this).

I know, but I wanted to go ol' school on this project. Various outboard gear that I wanna patch in, and commit to from the start.

Thanks.
