Default playback issue

I'm running PT8 on an iMac. I'm trying to edit a session, and I'm having a problem with playback. Whenever I hit spacebar to begin playback, the playback actually begins a split second earlier than wherever the cursor is set. I can't very well hear if I'm making my edits properly if playback doesn't start where it's supposed to. Anyone know how to fix this? thanks...

I think what you're seeing is the cursor jumping back by the size of the buffer - playback doesn't actually begin until it hits the original insertion point.

We're fixing this in an update release of Pro Tools.

Im having this same issue, and it really seems like playback actually begins earlier than the edit insertion point. It doesnt seem to change when I adjust the buffer size, and it also began doing it once I brought a project from home into one of the studios at my school where it had never done that before. Ive been using this system just fine almost since PT8 first came out with no problems, and this started happening in the middle of a editing project. Ive been trying to work a lot on key commands lately as Im preparing for some tests at school and thought I might have triggered something, but I cant find anything and my teachers are stumped as well. Is there anything else this could be?

Except, of course, I had only tried a few different buffer sizes to see if it was a latency issue with my external drive or something.
Now upon more intensive examination, indeed at 64 samples the cursor moves nary a hair and at 2K+ the lag in playback audio until the cursor catches up to the insertion point is noticeable.

Kewl.

I can pull my hair back in now. Thanks!
