Hi people,I use Pro Tools M-Powered 7.3.1 with Fast Track USB.When I bounce in wav format there isn't any problems with the quality,but in mp3 the highs are smashed

The problem with Mp3 is that the file size is really small compared to a .wav that when it gets compressed down it needs to filter out things to make it so small. This can very well include certain frequencies that you could hear before. When you talk about smashed, what exactly do you mean by that? It has a compressor/limiter sound that is being "smashed" by the dynamic processing or do you mean the highs are just missing?

Some of the highs are just missing,everything over 10-11 khz.For example the cymbals doesn't have their brilliance,they sound harsh,and in wav format everything is just fine

can you post all your exact settings you used to export your mp3?

yeah,encoding speed:fastest,constant bit rate 320 kbit/s,bit depth 24 bit,44100 khz

I think the problem is the operating system...I'm on Windows XP SP2,and tried with cubase and other audio interface and the result was the same...What can I do ?
