Creating Default Sessions
Is there a way that I can make all of my new sessions begin with a master track with a plug or 2 attatched to it so that I don't have to always create one and do the same set-up parameters that I require everytime I start a new session/project?

Re: Creating Default Sessions
Well, not quite as simple as just having a default session, but you can use templates.
I've got a tutorial on my webpage for how I like to use templates.

Re: Creating Default Sessions
Yeah, importing session data is fine. I do that all the time. What I was really hoping for was a way to just have Protools open with certain variables that I don't have to still set up one way or another.
Thanks anyway. |

Anyone? Surely there must be a file that Protools refers to anytime you start a new session. Where is that and how can I adjust the settings?

Re: Creating Default Sessions
I'm pretty sure when you create a NEW session, it's blank because it's new... if you want to use old settings for new songs, do the template trick above by spkguitar , he's very helpful around here.
OR You could do what I sometimes do when I'm remixing my own song. Open the song that has all your settings, make sure it's saved as you want it, then highlight all the audio/MIDI regions you have on it and delete them. Then go to File > Save As, and give it a new name. This will give you a blank canvas to work with, complete with your pre-tweaked Insert plugins. The only problem is if ever your Pro Tools loses something, you're going to have a longer list than you should in the Audio folder, since they'd go to the same folder (Unless you can change the folder/create a new one for each time you do this trick...it doesn't let me do so for some reason) I'm sure this isn't the answer you're looking for, but it's a possibility if you don't want to import Session data. The thing is, it's not going to open right away as you load PT LE, you'll still have to open the session, but atleast all the Inserts are ready for you after that, right?

Re: Creating Default Sessions
Hey, thanks for the great responces. I suppose that I could leave a "template" on my desktop for example and just quickly import whatever data I want from it into my new session located wherever else I put it. Just so long as we're not dealing with the importation of any audio files yet at that time. So, first before doing anything else, open a new session and import session data from the template, then save... Then upon working on audio in a seperate area/folder etc, everything should save as a whole, seperate from the original template... Alright, at least now I have a slightly simpler approach then setting up for 5 minutes every time I begin a new session!
Any other ideas, keep them coming! Regards. |
