Default cutting to the grid with beat detective

Im using shan's workaroudn to cut some drum tracks to the grid w/ beat detective. My drummer is playing pretty close to the click and we're using it just to tighten up the performance. Some stuff just isnt budging, though.. Does it just not work on certain fills? How are commercially recorded cd's so tight to the click? Are they doing this bar by bar? Do i need HD?? Any fine tips out there?

They have professional, talented drummers.

Get a new drummer...save the 20K on HD.

Although I agree with the fact the drummers used on Pro Recordings are top notch, some, if not a lot of their trax are still cut to a grid depending upon musical style of course.

Some still do. Some use beat detective.

No, not for editing.

It can edit all the drum tracks simultaneously, instead of one (or stereo) track at a time...

You can edit drums from my experience in much less time.

I bought PTLE mainly for drum editing. But as beat detective only works for one track, I do it manually. Like this it is quite time consuming, but the results are really worth the effort. Recently I edited some songs which took me some days, but now it is tight as hell... lovin' it!
