Exclamation running Disc Utility

I have a hard drive that has been experiencing issues. I was wondering if running a disc utility on the drive would have any ill effects on the protools files on the drive. The drive is a Lacie 2 big triple. Any suggestions?

Back it up first, if it's not already. Do that before anything else. The problem is likely electrical (weak power supply) or mechanical. in that case, a disc utility won't tell you anything, and may take up precious time you could have spent getting data off it before it's a door stop.

Then throw that drive away. Always see problems with those drives....

You could try 'Defragmenting' the Drive.

Drive Genius 2 is a good program for this as is Techtool Pro.
