Default Lost Communication With Audio Interface -6097

I have a DIGI 002 and a 3rd Generation Dual 2 GHz PowerPC G5 Power Mac running Mac OS 10.5.8. I just upgraded to Pro Tools LE 8.0.1cs2 from 7.4.x. Now, when I open a session with a moderate amount of plug-ns, Pro Tools is immediately sluggish and unresponsive, I get the spinning cursor which is also unresponsive, and I eventually get an error message that says "Lost Communication with Audio Interface... -6097" The message says to try increasing HW buffer size or reducing the number of RTAS plug-ins. I tried doing those things, and it didn't help. I went through the troubleshooting thread and did all the things it said to maximize my system performance - that didn't help. I made sure that I didn't have any old versions of any plug-ins installed - that didn't help. I did a bunch of other things that were suggested in the troubleshooting thread which didn't help either. I found a thread where someone suggested decreasing the number of processors in the playback engine to 1 instead of 2 - that didn't help. I also found a thread where someone suggested that it may be a problem with firewire ports, so I spent some time trying different configurations of plugging in my DIGI 002 and my LaCie firewire 400/800 drive - this didn't help either. Can someone please help me? As it is now, my Pro Tools system is virtually un-useable.

Are you certain it isn't the dreaded power harness issue? If its the mixer version, try Stand-Alonemode to see if it functions that way(if not, then its the power harness). Always try another firewire cable as they do go bad for no apparent reason(learned the hard way).

I checked the greed LED's in the back of the DIGI 002, and they both look right (one is blinking, one is on constantly), so I don't think it's the power harness.

I ran the Pro Tools Plug In List Generator, and it says:

You need to go to the library in Macintosh HD, not your home folder.

Well, I removed those plug-ins, and apparently that wasn't the problem. Because I'm still experiencing the same issues as before. I'd also like to add that my Power Mac is a 3rd generation Dual 2 GHz PowerPC G5. I haven't tried a new firewire for the DIGI 002 (because I don't have an extra that's long enough), but I don't think that's the problem because it was working fine immediately prior to upgrading to LE 8.0. But maybe I've ruled that out prematurely. Thanks for everyone's help. any other ideas?

Also, I've noticed that some sessions work just fine. My problems seems a lot like the problem described in this thread:

http://duc.digidesign.com/showthread.php?t=268254

however, I currently have NO non-digidesign plug-ins installed, whatsoever. Every plug-in that is currently in my plug-ins folder came with my Pro Tools LE 8.0 installation. This is just really frustrating because I just spent $120 upgrading my OS so that I could spend another $150 to upgrade Pro Tools, and now it doesn't work as well as it did when I was running 7.4.

If I have to live with this the way it is, maybe I can find some work-arounds by using more Audiosuite plug-ins. But let me ask you this, DigiTechSupport: If a fix is coming, do you have any idea when to expect it?
