The session is saved on a volume set to \"Transfer\" only...
If you are using Windows XP, you need to be sure your new data disk is configured as BASIC and *not* DYNAMIC!
Check this Microsoft link for more detail on the difference: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314343 DYNAMIC disks are for situations where you are going to be doing RAID, etc. Pro Tools doesn't seem to play well with such disks. So configure your disk as BASIC *before* making any paritions and formatting them: "Control Panel" ---> "Computer Managment ---> "Disk Management" ---> "Properties" of the new disk Obviously, if you already have data on that disk / partition, be sure to back it up first, then write it back out after you've made the change.

Re: The session is saved on a volume set to \"Transfer\" only...
I believe this applies to windows XP proffesional only (not home)
How does this relate to the topic of transfer volumes?

Re: The session is saved on a volume set to \"Transfer\" only...
PT set my DYNAMIC volumes as "Transfer" only in the Workspace option - it would *not* let me change them to "Record" or "Playback". Changing to a BASIC disk fixed this.
And yes, this was XP Pro - don't know about XP home. Hey, it worked for me!

Re: The session is saved on a volume set to \"Transfer\" only.
Out of curiousity, would something like this also allow you to change the status of say a removable drive such as a USB Flash Drive from T to R?

Quote:
This only related to hard disks that are supposed to allow R and P yet show up as T due to wrond format mentioned above. You cannot use USB flash drives for recording as they are just too slow.
