Longshot guess – if it’s because QuickTime’s not installed –
See:

Quicktime is installed, yes. It used to say that the.exe file that facilitated cd import was either missing or damaged…now it lists the .cda files and says it isn’t the kind of file Pro Tools can use. Of course not. It USED to rip within the program. Again, as stated in my original post, it worked fine up until 2021.5.

“What’s a CD?” Something that a surprising number of us still use, in fact, Blake. I have Olympic figure skaters bringing in CDs all the time that we extract the music from and do edits, and it’s still the playback medium at major competitions. Since you asked….

Same thing in Mac Finder. You don't need s/w to rip cd's.

For Windows:
while we’re waiting for a fix,
first convert .cda file/s to WAV, using Windows Media Player > Format > WAV (or MP3)
Save to Desktop or elsewhere
Then, in Pro Tools:
File > Import > Audio

For Mac:

Except, as stated in my original post, this is a PC. Roxio it is.

FWIW - 'twas I who quoted both Sardi & Jack - purely to "round out" this Thread to include interested Mac users, also

I'm on Win & PT 2020.5. As I recall, the last time I tried a CD import - using PTools Import Audio command - it worked. When/if it fails, I use iTunes to import as wav.

It stopped working for me as of 2021.3. There’s other ways to do it, indeed, but I sure wish they wouldn’t break existing features when they add new ones. It adds to the “annoyingly clumsy factor.
2021.7 tells you it “isn’t readable by Pro Tools.”
2021.3 said that there was a damaged or missing .exe file, and I’m wondering how safe it would be to grab that .exe file from a previous release when this still worked, and add to the existing PT folder.
(digiSPTI.exe)

And don’t get me started on the screen still freezing every 10 seconds no matter WHAT I try.

Turns out we Windows users will need to get used to using WMP or whatever to rip from CD's as its not going to get fixed(and yes, its no longer working in the recent builds for me either)
