I know this was just asked & answered not long ago, so I apologize. I searched for it and cannot find it. The search in this board ain't that great. You look at one entry, and if it isn't the one you need then and you try to go back to read more you get that message "this page has expired" so you have to do the search all over again. anyway...
When I first started using PT, I could highlight (select) part of a region in edit mode, and then hit stop and it would still be selected, so I could copy and paste it. Now, I can highlight and listen to a selected area, but the second I hit stop on the transport, the selection de-selects, so I can't remember or see my edit points. How do you get it to remain selected after hitting stop?

instead of clicking the link normally (left-click), try to open it with a right-click, and then choose "Open link in a new window". That way you keep the original window/page open so it doesnt expire. I never had the expration thingy with the duc though.....

Cruise - you have to Unlink Timeline and Edit for that. Hit the icon near the upper left next to Tab to Transients or go inot Operations to unlink them.

Preference - Insertion follows playback
It's also toggled with the N key in command focus mode. Rail
