Default cannot convert selected tracks

for some reason i cannot "bounce to disk" selected regions or tracks to either
. wav or .aiff files. Mp3 works fine but very compressed and soft, and quicktime works. But bot of the "non-functioning files either come up with some "damage file error" message ( .wav) or even when reimporting files back into PT, there is no wave form, no sound, nothing (.aiff).

I am totally baffled. App and DAE has plenty of ram, i covert after bounce, . System is 9.2.2 DUal 800.
ANy thoughts? Help?
