Mac Pro 2013 + Pro Tools 11 + UA Apollo Quad
I am trying to figure out the optimal Playback Engine settings for the configuration mentioned in the title:
Mac Pro 2013 3Ghz 8-Core, 32 GB RAM, Mavericks OS X 10.9.2 Pro Tools 11.1.2 Apollo Quad UAD 2 When tracking I am setting the H/W Buffer Size to 32 Samples. No plug-ins active. Simply using the session to create voice overs for some training videos. 10 seconds into recording I am getting that infamous "send the logs to Avid" and report the error. Up at 128 Samples, not the same issue but the latency is slightly annoying. I guess I can resolve this by monitoring through the UA Console. On the flip side, on music projects, i have over 50 tracks on a session and a whole mess of virtual instruments and Waves plug-ins. I set the sample rate to 32 samples and I don't crash. I'll play around with the H/W buffer size but am thinking maybe there is some good knowledge out there on setting up the Playback Engine. Thanks for your time! Francisco |
