Default Too many issues with 12.4

Im done. Going back to 11 HD. This is horrible. Beat detecting drums and regions trim and zoom is so slow.

Im really regretting my purchase right now.

No more sandra reports. Over it.

Hi, Just keep in mind that no version of Pro Tools is supported in Windows 10. I had trouble with PT12 in Windows 10 too, so i went back to W7 and it works fine.

Although i had zero crashes tonight. Thank god. Beat detecting presented problems.

When i was trimming regions to remove artifacts the render time on moving fades was very slow. A lot slower than 11 hd was on windows 10. Im just at a loss at why 11 ran fine on windows 10 and 12 runs worse.

Im gonna live with the performance until avid certifies windows 10 hopefully with 12.5.

The only reason why i upgraded was to not have to pay 1k for and upgrade later. I feel like going to a new version is a really bad idea with protools. I hate being in this forced upgrade thing. If avid was more prompt with hot fixes and updates id be more ok with it. But they take forever to fix anything in my experience.

For instance in beat detective and this drives me crazy and has for a long time. If you try and smooth a good bit of fades. Beat detective will sometimes not fade or smooth everything. It leaves say the toms not smoothed.

Happened since protools 10. Still not fixed. I just dont get it. You would think stuff like this would be ironed out fast. But no.

I know you have been troubleshooting and trying to find the issue, but there has to be a problem somewhere on your system. 12.4 and Windows 10 is running great for far to many of us. I have installed it on at least 4-5 Windows 10 systems this year with no issues.

It did not crash tonight. But just slow with the fade drawing. Choppy zoom as well. I deleted preferences and turned back on turbo boost and its drawing a little quicker. But i don't know. I'm eagerly awaiting the new update. I ran 11.3.2 for months with no major issues minus a few hangs on closing of protools. While it was up it was good. I do notice 12 hangs on exit too for me at times.

I had mismatched ram with the 11 setup and intergrated graphics. No problems. lol

I had thought about changing daws one other time, many years ago. Can't remember what the deal was, (no memory on my shoulders, but I have 32 in the box). By the time I almost made a decision on the direction to go, PT's had a new version out. There are a few people here that are so good at what they do (thanks guitardom for all the help through the years!!), I'd love to have them sit at my desk. But since that is not an option, as long as I'm up to date and optimized, I've learned to just wait for PT's to fix it. PT's will always limp along in some area or another but not enough for me to change daws. And since I'm on my 4th build of PC's, using only approved hardware, PT's has mostly been really good! 12.4 though is, for me, one that I just can't use. So I'll go back to 12.2 then 11.2 (as many have done) to find what works. I know 11.2 worked fine. So all that to say, do what you need to do, but a new build may not be the answer? 12.4 will soon be history, and the DUC will again be mostly quiet.
Mike
