Default Time to give something back.

I just wanted to say thank you to all of the contributors on this forum, you have made my
switch to PT much easier than I expected. The incredible knowledge of the members have
created a wealth of information in this forum that has proven to be as valuable as the manual.

I am still new to PT and I have not been able to give anything in the way of advice back to the community.
I wanted to give something, I recently created a desktop pattern with the Command FOCUS Keys [a...z]
in their keyboard layout positions as an learning aid and reference. I have been using it on my DAW for
a few days and I think it might be something that a few people will find helpful.

If you would like a copy you can download it from here:

http://www.athirstforfaith.com/ptkeys.html

I have created it in several screen resolutions, you should be able to find the size you need. Once you
have it in your system and selected as your desktop pattern, you will find that is it quickly accessible if
you setup your Expose' like this: Select an Active Screen Corner that is best for you and choose Desktop
from the popup menu. When ever you need to check the Command Focus Keys you just have to move
your cursor to the hot corner and there it is, move the cursor back to the hot corner and your PT windows
are back in place. You can set it up to a mouse button as well.

Hope you get some use out of it...

very cool, thanks a lot!

For now I'll probably mainly use it by opening it up normally (and using exposé to get it when i need it in a similar fashion). Great idea none the less!

Thanks a lot. This will definitely help me to memorize the keys.

Hmmmm.

I tried installing this on two different Mac's and when I select the unzipped .jpg file it wont load it, but it does load all of the other desktop pictures. I have definitely downloaded the correct screen size also.

What am I doing wrong? This would be really great. Thanks ( I hope)

Thanks guys, I'm glad it could be of use.
I might do one for Reason and Live, if I do, I'll post them as well.

dubaifox:

I'm not too sure why it's not loading for you.
A few things off the top of my head:
You could try saving the file on the desktop, clicking the Choose Folder icon in the
Desktop preferences and manually select it from the desktop?
Make sure the file extention (.jpg) is still there?
Will it open in the Apple Preview application?
You may need to be logged in as Admin to add it?
If I can think of anything else I'll let you know.

This is a really awesome thing. I've placed it as the desktop picture for all of the systems in my training center and I'm going to make a CD for all of the students to put on their own systems with it. Thank you so much.

One mistake though...

The D key = Fade to start
F= Cross Fade
and G = Fade to End

Other than that, it's brilliant.

Thanks Shawn, it's my pleasure...I'm glad I could contribute.

I have noted the errors you mentioned, I will fix it and have the revised edition on the
download site around 11:00pm Toronto-Canada time tonight.

Hey Guys/Gals,

I've uploaded the revised editions, so much for my prooff reedin scills!

All resolutions have been updated. You might need to hit the refresh button
on your web browser to see the change.

EGS:

What file format do you need for Windows?
I'll see what I can do.
