Default Shoe Tool Error? - SOLVED-

I installed PT 2020.12 a few days ago. Since then I've closed and opened PT a few times. No issues.

As of today. I get... "An error occurred while installing shoe tool. Try running a build with signed components first to get it installed properly."

What is this? I've NEVER seen this in all my 20 yrs of using PT.

I have work to do. Any help here? I cannot find anything on this. Other than loose threads from years back.

I'm running Mojave 10.14.6 - PT 2020.12

TIA!

------

Solved: All Avid startup agents were disabled on my system startup. I went into Cleaner One Pro and turned them all on. I have no idea how this happened but I'm glad I was able to rectify this. I was at my wits end.

I found a user that found this solved the problem:

(DUC search is pretty lousy. I use Google to search and limit results to the duc by adding site:duc.avid.com in the search field:

Thanks, Ben...

I have tried that first link. No success. It's a 2015 thread so the likelihood of it working are slim but I did give it a go. I've seen the other threads but no current info on this. I'm contemplating on completely deleting PT and starting over. I don't have time to format drives and such. I have a lot of work to do and this has completely derailed a good portion of that. I cannot find the uninstaller for PT 2020.12 either. I installed via Avid Link. *sigh*

Fixed it...

Somehow, all of the startup agents were disabled. I'm not quite sure how this happened so PT had nothing to run it in place. I've never experienced this but that's what fixed it for me.

That's great.
Mind telling us and posterity just how you re-enabled them? Over 30 years with macs, and I've never heard of "Startup Agents". You mean LaunchAgents? were they gone from their folder? What?

I'm glad you got thing working. In the future, it would be a good idea to make a good backup before updating the OS or Protools. In fact, it isn't truly baked up until it is backed up twice (and store one backup offsite). Carbon Copy Cloner is a popular method to make a working copy of your system on a separate hard drive. External USB drives are affordable nowadays.

I encountered this problem as well. The solution on this page worked for me! Thank You! Two days of trial and error trying different proposed solutions. I found this, and was up and running in less than 10 minutes!!

Glad you fixed it. Thanks for reporting back. Not everybody makes an effort to share when they find solutions, which is kinda irritating.
