Default HDX Mac Power Cable Question

Hi

I use a 12 core Mac Pro with a flashed GTX 980. This card uses both power connectors of the Mac Pro.
My question:

Is it possible to use the HDX Card with a SATA to MOLEX Adapter from a hd slot of the Mac Pro. I mean Sata to Molex and the PC Powercable from the hdx card...

Anyone here, who uses this solution?

Thanks for help

I think any of the power connectors will work as long as you have the adapter. I know pc people do stuff like that all the time. I would take one of the optical drive power cables and use that.

I just bought a splitter cable to be able to power both hdx and GTX 980. I'll install it soon and let you know. According to the seller it should be fine.

Hi Fidelis - Did you ever test out your splitter cable? I'm in the same boat with an HDX card and a GeForce GTX-680 that requires two power connections itself. I had been looking for a SATA power option - willing to pull two 1TB drives to get these cards to work in my Mac Pro (early 2009)

Hi, yes, it's working great. I bought the wrong cable but my tech used the connection of the PC adaptor that comes with HDX and made it right and it's working great. So I have one of the power connection splitted to HDX and video card, and the other going just to the video card. Works like a charm!
