I have a brand new Command 8 from Digidesign. Fader #4 is fighting me, and not allowing automation to be written.




I have the fear that if I send the unit to Digidesign they will say “we could not find the problem - it tests as normal” so I thought to help them out, I’d document the problem before I sent it in for repair.

As I said in the video, I have the exact same problem - no matter if I use it on my G5, my Mac Pro, using a couple of different USB cables, using the front or rear USB ports of my computers..... and NO - I am NOT using a USB hub anywhere.

ProTools 7.3.1cs4, OS 10.4.8, one PPC machine, one Intel machine.

I just had a very nice phone call with a very helpful guy named Kyle...

and re-loading the same firmware into the unit seems to have fixed the problem.

Kinda odd that the firmware was corrupt in a new unit, but hey - if it fixes the problem for good - I'm very happy.
