drag from workspace is very slow
I recently crossgraded from a G4 Mac to a dual Opteron pc and after some tweaking, my system runs fine, except for the workspace. Besides some sorting problems (sometimes for some unknown reason files do not appear in alphabetic order any longer) my system slows down when dragging files from the workspace on to a session track. When I drag the same files from the windows explorer, they appear almost immediatly. What could be wrong here?
After dragging a file from the workspace it takes 20 seconds or more for Protools to react (in the title bar it shows "not responding") After some more testing I saw that the Protools.exe file is using lots of memory (over 1Gb when I'm accessing the workspace). Would it help to add another 2Gb of ram to the system??? My system: Supermicro HD8 mobo Dual Opteron 265 2Gb ram 3 x 320 Gb Sata 4 x Lacie FW 2 x IDE Protools HD2 Accel - 7.2 Windows Xp Pro
