Mbox already in use?

I have a powerbook g4 and own a 002 rack. I borrowed my friends mbox so i can access my session while im not at home. I had 7.3 installed and it seemed to run alot slower lately, like too much computer usage. I bumped back down to 7.0 but now when i try to open up protools i get an error "Digidesign's hardware is currently being used by another application" (-1133). Can anyone help me?

Only thing i could think of is: Are you running your system audio through your mbox?
But thats probably not it.

No im not. I talked to my friend, he says he cannot connect get it to work with his mac system either but we both can use it when we use it on our pc systems.

Did you do a 'clean' uninstall of 7.3 before installing 7.0? It sounds like you didn't, in which case you would have mixed version components installed, causing this error, You should do a clean uninstall of BOTH 7.3 and 7.0, then restart and reinstall 7.0 (or whichever version you want to ultimately work with).
